There is a truly unappreciated American hero out there. His name is at least known to a growing number who seek to learn and pass on his insights and expertise in the conduct of military and business affairs.
That man was USAF Col. John Boyd.
Along with his famous Energy Maneuver Theory, outlined in the Aerial Attack Study, he went on to advise the design and development of the F-15 and F-16 fighters to better counter the threat of more agile and more heavily produced Soviet fighters of the 60s. In his later years, he worked (often with few supporters) in an attempt the change military doctrine to better shape itself for all types of conflicts. In the process he devised the OODA Loop in an attempt structure the decision making process and how it related to military actions.
This video is just an introduction into the OODA Loop (or Cycle as some call it). I would greatly advise anyone to look further into it and the tactical genius of Col. John Boyd, a man who thought beyond the generals, admirals, and lobbyists in Washington.
