Wargame: The Battle of Småland 1979
During the six-month conflict between the Warsaw Pact and NATO in 1979 (Commonly known as "The Third World War") , a stalemate ensued where both factions where unable to push the other back. Attacks became rare as they had less and less chances to succeed.
The Warsaw Pact decided that their best option would be to push through neutral Sweden in order to attack Norway and Denmark, forcing NATO to relocate in order to defend their allied nations.
The Polish 3rd Marine Brigade was detailed to force a bridgehead in Småland, right above Öland to push through the middle of the country and allow subsequent units to attack the NATO countries.
The mobilized Swedish Defence formed "Stridsgrupp Kalmar" in order to repel the invaders...
