Was It Takes Two REALLY the BEST GAME of 2021?
17As amazing as it is to see Josef Faras and his team win GOTY despite at one point being the meme of the GOTY Awards, was It Takes Two really the game that deserved to earn Hazelight Studios the honour?
Yes. Yeah, basically. It Takes Two is simply amazing.
It's chocked full with different kinds of game-play mechanics and genuinely great platforming challenges, while balancing fun characters and narrative to boot.
Now is it perfect? No. No way.
The controls are not always well oriented, and there's some visual glitches amoung other issues that hold it back in my mind from being something reaching perfection, but beyond those issues, it makes sense why It Takes Two won the awards it did.
But what is It Takes Two, you ask?
It's the story of a married couple that's looking to have a divorce, as their relationship is in a pretty rough place.
After their daughter unknowingly casts some kind of magical emotion spell on them through a mysterious love book, Cody and May, the protagonists, are transformed into these tiny, makeshift versions of themselves; and are tasked to solve challenges laid out for them by this Love Book guy.
And from there, we are off.
