Today's video is all about a competitive match rating system... or the lack of one. In today's competitive environment, the only rating available to us is in the form of medals which can provide an indicator of how you are performing in comparison to your teammates. The problem with this system is that this rating has nothing to do with how well you performed the role you are in, it is strictly a comparison and everyone always has the exact same 5 medals to look at. You could then look at other stats provided in the game and see if those were helping you, but even if you looked at Blizzard kills in a match, it wouldn't be telling you if you performed well. The problem with some of these end games stats is that everything is based on a match, match lengths can vary greatly and so a quick game where you get 10 eliminations is a lot more important than a 25 minute game where you got 15 eliminations.

That is why I think it is important to look at stats/min as seen on masteroverwatch.com. It is a metric that can provide a lot better context for measuring stats between games. This is a good start, but I still don't think it is enough for everyone to see there performance. What the game really could use is a rating system such as the QB rating system in the nfl. The quaterback rating is a metric that takes a few key stats and tries to make sense out of them with one final number as the result. It is not perferct by any means, but it can help provide context when you are comparing two different quarterbacks or comparing performance across multiple games.

In a similar way, if there was some sort of rating on a 0-100 scale that could summarize some key stats, we could then see at the end of a match whether we performed better or worse than last game.

This is where you all come in, I am going to try to develop a rating for Mei (focusing on one character in a unique role). My hope is that I will be able to weight a set of relevant stats to come up with some sort of meaningful number at the end of a match. I would then check the results against how I felt the game went to see if the number has some sort of relevance. What I need is some input from other Mei players to tell me what stats you think are vital to a good Mei, if you also have any weighting, I can take that into consideration as well. I will use that input along with some analysis of other high performing Mei players and see what kind of formula I can generate.

Ok rant over, let me know what you guys think!
