One of the few things I really like about Drakengard 2 and how The Dark Id presented it is the fact Manah, the villain of the first game, was, essentially, traumatized by Caim, and when he appeared she lost it and went into apanic attack from her PTSD. It's incredibly rare for a protagonist to have such an experience AND lose it like that when triggered.
