what are we unironically even doing anymore - Undead Assault Chronicles #124
I tried my hand at being a base FSS. As it turns out, it’s harder than it seems.
The main issue with base FSS is that it takes too much coordination to try to land shells on others when I could be shooting them with a gun or just kiting it myself.
I made three big mistakes this run:
1. Picking Ordnance Reserve over Support Battery
In a typical campaign game, I’m going to be spamming flares and smokes, and I could’ve added white phosphorus to my spam and occasionally nuked. Ordnance reserve only grants 50 shells, and I’m definitely using more than 50 shells through IDF skills anyways and could’ve used them more often.
2. I prematurely used lift boots during T1 Holdout and ended up dying instead of carrying. I managed to pull cacu and a lot of other t1, and being able to just take those out alone would’ve been worth so much if I didn’t walk right into a licker.
3. The game ending mistake was at the end and is a very common mistake conceptually. I tried to lift boots across to take the kite away from my team, but unfortunately lifted across enemies that attacked me. More importantly, I tried to prioritize my team over myself, which should rarely ever be done. Except for mission objectives and maybe medics sometimes, players should always prioritize their own survival. I like to compare it to what they do on planes; you should always put your own oxygen mask on first in times of emergency rather than helping others because you can’t help others if you’re not conscious.
