What Card Game was Omega Playing? | Star Wars Explained
4The most recent episode of The Bad Batch season 3 introduced an in-universe card game never before seen in Star Wars called Balaans. The game can be seen being played inside a cantina on Lau where Omega jumps in to earn money for transport tickets and a way off the planet. The deck consists of five red and five blue number cards, as well as face cards consisting of two "destroy," two "deflect," two "bluff," two "steal," and four "block" cards. The game also includes the near-unbeatable hand called Three Eastern Stars, which Omega uses to beat Imperial Captain Mann. Although only the main moves of the contests were included in the episode due to pacing, a complete rule set was designed and a full round of the game between Omega and Captain Mann was shot. The production team even went as far as to playtest a few rounds in real life.
