What Is Atomfall's Wicked Isle, Why You Can’t Use An End-Game Save & How This Isn't Stand-Alone DLC

Atomfalls Wicked Isle DLC Story expansion came out a few months ago, but I didn't find time to play through it until recently. Although I have enjoyed myself in this new area of the quarantine zone, I was disappointed that the new story arcs & quests it introduces are not self contained, they open up different endings to the main game's story.
I think that if you enjoy re-playing games to see what different endings are like, & you enjoyed Atomfall, then the Wicked Isle DLC will be for you, but if you play single-player games more for the story and experience, then you may be put off by having to dip back into the main game and repeat the end-game quests.
This could be especially onerous if you've picked a really early game save (and you've already completed the vanilla story), because you'll have to repeat all the steps needed to open up the Interchange, Oberon, The Windscale Nuclear Plant & the Dig Site.
I would have much rather seen a self-contained story arc, that could have given you some quests back to the main-land, but where the DLC Story ended on the Isle, or at least there was a "secret tunnel" at the end of the story to quickly get you to the end-game without the grind of fighting through the Nuclear Plant.
My review of Wicked Isle could be summed up as, if you're a fan of Atomfall and can get the DLC cheap in a sale, then go for it, but unless you're a fan of re-playing the endings over and over, don't pay full price.
Thanks, Rob.
