During the Industry Pool at the Nürburgring I have filmed this odd Porsche Panamera Turbo testing on track.

Is Porsche cooking up a track-focused Panamera?

We've already caught prototypes of the upcoming 2020 Panamera facelift undergoing testing revealing some subtle styling changes, but this latest example is sporting some more significant exterior enhancements. It may look like an ordinary Panamera Turbo on first glance, but a closer inspection reveals it has been fitted with some extra aerodynamic components that aren't normally offered on the Panamera.

At the front, the Panamera prototype features a pair of canards on each corner of the bumper and a gurney flap has been added to the rear spoiler. As a result, it looks more aggressive than the regular Panamera. Question is, what is Porsche cooking up here?

Nothing has been confirmed, but Porsche could be testing a new aero kit for the upcoming Panamera facelift that could be sold as an optional package. Alternatively, Porsche could be testing a new track-focused version of the Panamera that's even more hardcore than the 680-horsepower Turbo S E-Hybrid. Time will ultimately tell.

As for the regular version, recent spy shots of the 2020 Panamera Sport Turismo have shown it will be fitted with a redesigned front bumper with new LED daytime running lights, as well as new rear lights connected to a LED strip like the new Cayenne. We're also expecting the facelifted Panamera to receive some interior tweaks such as a new steering wheel.

According to a report by Autocar, the updated Panamera will be offered with new mild-hybrid powertrains for the 2020 model year. Like the current model, the S and 4S versions will use a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6, but both models are likely to adopt the 48-volt electrical architecture recently added to the 2020 Audi S6 and S7, which could result in some performance improvements. The current Panamera Turbo has an output of 542 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque.
