PTSD can cause what is known as flashbacks. Not all individuals with PTSD experience Flashbacks. But those who do find it very difficult.
Flashbacks and traumatic memories are the result of both physiological and psychological processes in the brain. PTSD and family trauma can cause flashbacks when you least expect them.
Those with PTSD who do not experieince flashbacks may experience nightmares, night-terrors, or even sleep paralysis.
In this video, I discuss the anatomy of flashbacks and traumatic memories.
