What The Heck Is Just One Line? Gameplay, Review, and First Impressions
7In today's video, we take a look at Just One Line (JOL). JOL is a text based roleplaying game with the main selling point being all your reaction options to events will be Just One Line. In the demo we played through two starter level missions in order to let the potential interested person play this demo for themselves. This game is currently in alpha with a demo available on their main website linked below.
Critiques
-We had a little issues with the game crashing at times as well as some glitches that were cut out of the video at certain points.
-The text was hard to read at times due to the texts being see through. A solid background to read said text would be much easier on the eyes.
-Graphics could use a little bit of work, but the current frame in place doesn't look too displeasing
-The potion system was a little confusing at first, it would help if they were labeled as permanent boosts.
Positives:
-The story and quests that we played through was never bland, and previous actions that we did in early quests did seem to have some impact on later quests.
-The retiring option in order to get ranked on leaderboards is a potentially interesting feature, especially since if your character dies all of their renown is lost.
-There are differences between each classes that are fairly noticeable both story and combat wise .
Ending Notes:
Overall we had a enjoyable experience and would like to revisit this game sometime in the future when it is more fleshed out. The story telling element is there and engaging. Hopefully later quests continue the pattern that the demo sampled, and JOL turns into the gaming experience that the creators are aiming for.
