If you're going to create an action rogue lite right now, you probably want to give it a bit of a unique perspective, because the genre is stacked. I recon source of madness might just have done that. I'm Beggles, let's take a look at Source of Madness as it hits release date this week! If you like it, subscribe to the channel!
Source of madness if you classic 2D side scrolling rogue lite that you've probably seen a few hundred of released, but not all of them do it that well. This one is set in a dark and twisted love craftian inspired world, and has you playing as an acolyte that has to get stuck into some of these very scary looking monsters. Yeah good luck with that.
So the way in which i'd describe this game as a unique gameplay experience comes down to 2 elements. Let's start with the monsters. The developers of Source of Madness have stated that there are millions of monsters. And the way they justify it, is by using procedurally generated elements to make each interaction seem a little different than the last. As someone used to just learning animation and attack cycles. I think that's really cool.
Now the actual fighting mechanics look crazy as well. Explosive almost doesn't pay it the respect it deserves, and whilst some of the older trailer footage is kinda hard to follow, you can't help but be impressed with the scope of carnage in these scenes. I'm a fan of, bigger mayhem is better, as long as the game controls well, and that will be my number one question as this one releases.
Source of Madness releases into early access on the 22nd of steam, so you don't have long to wait for this one. If you're looking for something else a little different, check out the Siege the Day Video on your screen right now!
