When buying sustainable gym wear is NOT sustainable ๐ฅธ. I tried ๐คฆ๐ฝโโ๏ธ. Unless I want to have a ๐ซ
Hello, Cookies ๐โ๏ธ!
Today, we are online shopping together for gym clothes ๐! I have been looking around for the last 2~3 years as it is time to retire some of my leggings. How do I know? They have holes. Holes near my holes, ah.
I have tried to find sustainable activewear: Girlfriend Collective, Boody, Tentree and all the others. They would give me a camel toe or a look I do not like. Or both. Often both.
The importance of wearing "motivational" gym clothes is perfectly summed up by this French YouTuber: https://shorturl.at/jyMN3
In short, he mentions that for people who seriously workout, it is indeed a HUGE motivation to wear clothes that make muscles look good and reveal how much progress has been achieved. It can make you train harder. It's not about looking hot or desirable at the gym (I worked out in women-only gyms in Berlin and that was great!), it's about your own performance and happiness.
I try to support sustainable companies. Sometimes it is not possible. Either due to budget, location (if they ship from the US) or just because their goods aren't what I want. In those moments, I give myself grace because I know I have tried and will still try in the future. Also, I "balance" it out. I have ONE PAIR of gym trainers. They are 8 years old. The only time I switch is when I run, then I wear running shoes.
As a future Sustainability Specialist, I have the strong conviction that we all need to try our best. Whatever that best is, is individual.
These are the Bamboo bed sheets. I have them in Burgundy. They're great for my skin and hair:
