Where Science & Creativity Meet in Visual Effects | Full Sail University
Commercial visual effects are a blend of science (the execution) and creativity (the art and idea). While they may be two different worlds, artists need to understand both to make their projects look good technically and also move correctly. Photorealistic graphics are often necessary for a project, and it’s important to understand the science and technical side to make the visual effects look good. Having a point of view and giving projects personality adds to those effects by grabbing the attention of the audience. Instead of building a toolset to make the visual effects look correct and approaching it as art instead of a craft, it becomes an artful thought process to create organic graphics for clients. As with compositing work and lighting, your work might not necessarily be seen from a romantic point of view, but it should look natural to the human eye.
