That embracing the silliest of items might turn out to be the best idea.

Every year for the holidays I torture myself (as my gift to you all) by playing Tainted Lost to see how many runs I have to do before I get a win. Unlike previous years, however, this year I decided to give the full video, start to finish, including the runs I lost along the way to my victory. Typically one of the runs will end up being powerful enough by the end of Caves to justifiably breeze through Depths, with only a couple of hurdles presenting true difficulty, namely the Mom, It Lives, Isaac/Satan, and ???/Lamb boss fights. A reasonable subset of items exists to make these runs much easier, including Birthright, Book of Shadows, 4.5 Volt, Blank Card, Deck of Cards, Damocles, and anything that abuses luck or waxes broken. Tainted Lost is a different kind of game. You are limited in your opportunities for extra lives, as most of those items are stripped from the pool, and so finding additional ways to give yourself Holy Cards or super-charge things like the Book of Shadows is paramount to victory. Typically the damage and tears rate will work themselves out, since you will not be seeing health ups in boss rooms. You're also interested in heavily controlling your damage as well as abusing invincibility frames wherever possible.

Which is, of course, why my scuffed ass decides to ignore that control and play like a maniac instead. Run spoilers below.

** SPOILER **

I made a couple of mistakes in these runs. In the first run Rag Mega showed us why its some bullshit - if you freeze as I enter the door frame, you'll see the first dark matter orb is inches from my face. I instinctively shot li'l monstro's volley and it lobbed the orb into my body, forcing out my holy card prematurely. THEN I CORNERED MYSELF. My fault the second time, 100%. Then sulfuric acid had plans to get me killed by a random mushroom. I had a feeling it might happen that way, which of course means it was my fault that I took such a minor damage up to my own detriment.

In the second run I was killed by a predictive spike because I was focused on clearing the eternal flies in the middle of the room. I suppose my brain filtered them out, thinking they were spike rocks in the corners, and so I didn't react in time. To be fair, though, that run didn't feature any speed ups to speak of, and so my movement was hindered. In short, I was likely bound to get hit at some point regardless. I was bummed out because my mantle was removed by an unfortunate death rattle during curse of the dark. Just goes to show, black creep and dark shots during that curse in Depths is a deadly combination for T. Lost.

THEN THE THIRD RUN. Oh boy, the third run. The third run we started with Almond Milk. And 9/10 times you really shouldn't take Almond Milk. But I was a touch tilted and fresh out of a few runs with low tears. I'll admit, Bad PhD was my plan on the second, but I reasoned that I could offset the low damage with T. Lost's built-in damage multiplier. Then we got My Reflection. And Death's Touch. And Backstabber. And my goodness, it was powerful. We learned that the tears down from Eve's Mascara is worthwhile for sure, but 100% DO NOT take Haemolacria. That was a huge mistake. If it weren't for Haemolacria, the rest of the run would've been very smooth. It didn't give us meaningful damage and it tanked our tears rate.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy! Happy Holidays and as always, I'll see you later.
