It used to be, oh please kind master spare a penny and I’ll make a buggy sequel to your AAA RPG that still shows up the original, and then, oh please gamer hive-mind spare a penny and I’ll make a nostalgic RPG the way YOU remember them. Then somewhere along the way they won the corporate lottery and like all shitheads coming into sudden wealth no longer gives two fucks. After buying orphans to feed to ants, Obsidian now made 15th century Ace Attorney crossed with all the time-management parts of Persona and none of the waifus. Dialogue trees. Murder mystery. Speech checks. I don’t know which niche this game is supposed to cater to but if you saw semi-historical visual novel RPG and immediately needed a change of underwear its actually pretty good as far as self-congratulatory masturbatory passion projects go? Get it.
