Why are Roguelikes called Roguelikes? [Byte Size] | Nostalgia Nerd
A brief history of the roguelike genre. To many the answer to this question is obvious, others however may never have even considered it. This video therefore tries to cater to both types of viewer by explaining and then delving more in depth into the world and history of roguelikes. Starting in 1980 with the game Rogue and it's various conversions to popular platforms of the time, through various 8 bit and 16 bit adventures and onto more recent titles which have entered themselves as roguelike games. The question now then, is do these games actually resemble what a roguelike game should resemble?
