Assassin’s Creed isn’t one of gaming’s most popular franchises for no reason. Despite some stumbles with repetition, samey-ness, and some bugged-out character faces that fueled more than their fair share of nightmares, the series has managed to reinvent itself just enough to stay relevant in the gaming zeitgeist.

Despite it’s handful of missteps, we’ve seen fairly regular releases for the series for well over a decade and that doesn’t look like it’s changing any time soon. With a legacy approaching 15 games and ever-changing expectations of gamers, Assassin’s Creed’s newest entry, Valhalla, certainly has its work cut out for it to continue to stand out as the unofficial standard-bearer for the open-world action genre. Ubisoft definitely seems aware of this though, as Valhalla does appear to be taking some notable steps to hang on to the popularity of the series.
