As 2023 comes to a close, I did want to get one more special project completed and uploaded. And I'm going to preface and say this may very well be the most extensive video collection of this series still in existence. And the quality is uhh... it's uhh... uhh... not so great.

This little-known series from 1992 was hosted by Will Shriner and revolved around a series of up-and-coming inventors submitting their latest creations in a product-to-product battle for weekly syndicated game show supremacy, which well pre-dates stuff like TechTV's "Invent This!" and modern day shows like "Shark Tank"

Generally, around five to a dozen inventions would be shown off per episode and the audience would vote on their favorite from that week. The winner would then receive a gift certificate for The Sharper Image. Additionally, a famous inventor, such as the creator of the Super Soaker, or Post-Its, or the Nike Air Shoes, or the Telephone Cord Untangler, or the Intermittent Windshield Wiper, would come out toward the end, talk about their successes and announce the winner.

Humorously, a lot of the inventions were created prior to the boom of cellular phones, so much of what you see is now actually rather redundant. Of course, back in the 90s, you could only TALK and LISTEN through a phone.

Though a lot of the products seem somewhat cheesy in retrospect, there were some rather clever ideas from amateur inventors, like an expandable fire escape, or a security alarm system that would light up the outside of the house to alert police, or a "rolling" earthquake stabilization system built into the foundation of your house.

And having originally aired and left the air over 30 years ago, I was obsessed with trying to catch this show for the brief amount of time that it aired on the local ABC affiliate. Halfway into the season, the show was revamped with a new set and intro (minus the awesome theme song). Gone was some of the studio charm and even a few episodes took viewers on location. My local network originally paired it with Siskel and Ebert on Sundays at midnight before moving it to Saturdays and consistently shuffling it around for a weekend sporting event or infomercial. After a while, it vanished from the air entirely, never to be seen or referenced again.

Until now.

This upload is a raw transfer that is uncut. Nothing I can do is going to fix the quality, so I just left it "as is" as a relic of a time gone by. I'm kind of shocked that the VHS tape has survived even to this point. I don't know if this show is considered "Lost Media" by those that officiate such matters, or if they even know of its existence, but all I've been able to find of it has been sitting on one VHS in a box in one closet or another for the better part of three decades.

I previously uploaded an episode over two segments to my old channel 10 years ago, and an episode intro 14 years ago... but I've never seen any other content uploaded prior or since.
