We've known for years that most video games that release each year are not great because they rely too heavily on Operant Conditioning. Why then would we spend our time and money so often on things that are not good?

If you don't believe you waste a lot of money on games, take a gander at your Steam library and tell me your ration of games played to games finished.

I'm not here to hate on gaming. I've loved video games for a lot of years. But, I love them a LOT less now than I ever have. And that's because I've grown tired with their design philosophies.

Today I was talking with my son about Opportunity Cost which is the 4th principle of economics. The price of something we want is what we are willing to give up to get it. It sounds simple, but we waste so much of our time on endeavors that are not worth the time or money we invest.

Today we are going to explore that.
