Why PS5 & Xbox Series X Performance Is Close | RDNA 2 RT Oddities | Nvidia's SAM Announced
921There has been confusion around the PS5 and Xbox Series X performance difference in games like AC Valhalla, DMC 5 and more. We discuss the confusion surrounding the gaming performance for the Playstation 5 and XSX. This current generation is very, very early but naturally, performance comparisons for third party and first-party titles are being discussed.
The Xbox Series X and PS5 GPU and CPU raw performance figures are often the points of focus, but there's a lot more to the GPU and CPU of the Playstation 5 or the XSX than simply saying RDNA 2, or Zen 2 architecture.
We also touch on the ray tracing oddities of RDNA 2 RX 6000 GPUs from AMD. Not much has been seen of the raytracing performance or benchmarks since the official reveal of Navi 2X. RDNA 2 is the first graphics architecture from AMD which supports hardware based ray tracing.
Nvidia have struck back against AMD, announcing that they are working on their own version of SAM, or Smart Access Memory, for the RTX 30 Ampere graphics cards. With the gaming performance and workload performance pretty close between AMD and Nvidia, features like this and DLSS (or upsampling) are crucial.
