A short video to explain to you why the latency on the VATSIM network is a big problem, probably even bigger than just the audio quality. I also give you 4 tips to deal with this latency. Make sure you review them so YOU can contribute to a better 'radio atmosphere' on the VATSIM network!

The main reason why the VATSIM radios are a bit problematic and why it can be hard at times to get through is because of latency: every user connected to the internet will have latency. Whereas radio signals travel at the speed of light (pretty much) your voice over the internet does not travel with high speed and arrives at different pilots/controllers at different times. That's why the chance that people start talking through each other increases.
Make sure you are aware of this problem on VATSIM! Don't think that once you press your PTT button you are received by others immediately. Just be aware of it.
