Why you CAN'T compare 90s prices to Modern Prices [Retronomics]
The Nintendo Switch 2 has been announced and Mario Kart World is 80 freeking dollars?!
Did you know that in the 90s that some games were also $70? If you adjust for inflation that's $160 in today's money. More than double what the newest game is. So when you think about it, video games have actually gotten cheaper over the years so you really should be thankful they aren't more expensive. Or should you? This debate rages on Twitter every couple of months but no one talks about what other things used to cost in the 90s.
Think of this video as a crash course on inflation. Yes, video games really were that expensive compared to today, but there were other factors that made it more tolerable. I share my story of what it was like to be a gamer back then.
Check out @MyRetroLife 's channel for his video and a ton of great archived footage of his childhood which detail not only his life but what it was like to live through that era.
