Cannon Fodder is a classic known for its addictive fast-paced tactical gameplay but also a very strong anti-war message. A message that hit very hard and even got some tabloids up at arms way back at launch in 1993. Cannon Fodder really shows the grim reality of manpower management. How armies see soldiers versus how we view them as individuals. Jools and Jops are the first two soldiers we control, and for some reason many of us got attached to them. Or at least remember their names for years and decades, even though there is nothing remarkable about them. We usually come a long way with them and losing them is always painful. But this experience of losing the soldiers you care about and tried to keep alive as long as possible is what makes you truly understand and appreciate the message of Cannon Fodder.
