I hate this star possibly more than any other star in the entire game. I'm always a nervous wreck when I do it. Anyway, start the level by going into the huge painting to the right. Then get onto the one side of the mountain next to the beach by using the Koopa shell or the cannon. Walk along the wooden bridge and enter the hole in the mountain.
All 8 red coins are inside here. If there is an easy way to get these coins then I'm not aware of it. Good Luck!
