Windows 8.1 has improved the split screen function. Just like Windows 8, Windows 8.1 allows you to work with two different Windows 8 apps or share the screen with the desktop. But now, you can configure the size of the shared areas to fit whatever you are doing.

Also in Windows 8.1, switching out active and background apps has become easier with a new interface that allows you to choose where you want the new application to display.
