Absolutely fantastic and underrated game that is barely spoken of anymore, mostly due to it being delisted everywhere and no real legal way to digitally get your hands on it outside of consoles, or CD Keys. A great shooter, well-paced and controls amazingly, combat has a fast and fluent way of making you feel powerful, a true killing machine.

Performance wise, this game targets 30 with no vsync and usually meets it's mark in indoor areas, though suffers constantly on outdoor sections, or parts where a lot of stuff is going on. I would say it typically hangs in the mid 20s, with constant tearing but never becomes unplayable and the lack of vsync with drops allows for low latency without effecting controls. It runs like your average 6th gen game pretty much. I experience no bugs during my time.

Graphically this game is hit or miss, with a lot of areas such as the open HUD areas appearing very bland and dull, with bright yellow bricks everywhere and strong lack of any colors. There is little variety found in the areas, however where the game shines are the indoor and mission specific locations that present gorgeous, handcrafted interiors with lots of lighting and post processing effects. Character models are low quality and blocky, including surprisingly BJ himself. Weapons also share the same low quality nature. There is a very nice effect given to the blood and gore, with parallax mapped bullet holes showcasing gratuitous wounds on enemies.

This is your typical run and gun shooter, with a HUB based world that really doesn't amount to much outside of running around and looking for treasure to upgrades your equipment. The main story missions are acquired from NPCs that will take you to unique locations outside of the HUB world and where you will be spending most of your time, as the HUB tends to get boring and tiring due to the constant respawning enemies. BJ is equipped with a wide array of role-specific weaponry and super awesome powers that will be used constantly to level the playing field against ever increasing strength of enemies. I am unsure of how many of the side missions I've completed during this run, as I will at least praise that I couldn't tell the difference between them and main story missions as each was unique and a set-piece on its own. Each weapon and power can be upgraded from vendors and out of all that I chose, I noticed a substantial increase in performance when buying them. They handled this system very well. I would say this game also has the best checkpoint system I've ever seen in a video game, having one at the perfect time after every battle or long run in-between objectives. Developers have no idea how much this means to the general user experience, especially on harder difficulties.

Overall, I enjoyed my time and would give Wolfenstein an 8/10. It's a great shooter with very little faults outside of its lack of fancy graphics for the HUB, along with the HUB just being dull on its own. Otherwise, this is a very underrated game and it's a shame Bethesda either lost some license to it, or just want to shove it under the rug for reasons unknown.
