An alright expansion to an already existing great game. Going off everything the original succeeded on, Extraction Point picks up directly after the ending of F.E.A.R. There isn't much story here, as there wasn't in the first game so it doesn't really deserve a mention.

This game has some performance issues on Xbox 360, targeting 30 and for the most part, sticking with it, however there are areas that drastically drop heavily, including the last final battle that hovers somewhere in between the mid teens and low twenties. I experienced multiple bugs during my 4 and a half hour run, including one that soft locked the game due to the NPC AI shutting down, causing me to have to reload a checkpoint and many audio issues, one of which had a chewing noise persist for what felt like an eternity and drove me nuts after a while. I had enemies shoot me through walls, and one even stick his hand through a wall and toss a grenade into the room, killing me and leaving me pretty speechless. It's in the video somewhere lol.

There isn't much to say graphically if you are familiar with the original game, as it's running on the same engine and doesn't appear to have any changes or advancements made. Most of the environment consists of dull, bland office interiors and a rather long subway section. It reuses a lot of assets from F.E.A.R. As with the base game, image quality itself is very sharp, owing to a lot of the geometry being straight lines and boxes, along with what seems to be 4x MSAA applied. On a 4K TV set, the image is very sharp and looks clean.

A lot of changes have been made that I personally disagree with that I feel impact the original experience, or least in the sense of the F.E.A.R gameplay style. Extraction Point now throws at times quadruple the number of enemies at once at the player, almost causing an unbalance from the original game seemingly as the engine wasn't never really meant to handle it like this. Enemies will now rush at the player without disregard as they find themselves getting confused from so many in a room at once, or just pile one after another into a room bum-rushing the player. Not only that, but there are also now new enemy types including a really annoying ghost creature that is a mixture between the stealth clones and Alma's ghosts, and a new Heavy that takes obnoxious amounts of damage and seems extremely unfair at times.

Grenades have also got a massive nerf, as at times regular base enemies will take one directly to the face, impact-exploding on them and just be knocked to the ground. This happens constantly too and it's pretty disheartening to toss 2 or 3 frag grenades into a room just to walk in after and get mowed down from an enemy standing right where they landed and went off.

A few new guns have been added, none of which are really noteworthy. A laser-beam rifle and a minigun that is so inaccurate, it's basically only usable at shotgun distance or on boss type enemies. A really neat new grenade type called the remote turret was probably my favorite addition of this expansion, they are extraordinarily fun to use and can stick to any surface, really opening up new routes in combat as you can use them as distractions or help fend off enemies who are flanking.

Extraction Point gets a 7/10 from me, being flawed but still fun, while suffering from some pretty annoying bugs and performance. This was my first time playing this expansion, even though I've finished the original many times.
