Woody's World (1993) is a bit like Arabian Knights mixed with Mario; a platform game with some collecting and some very easy puzzles. Graphic and music are really good for OCS hardware, and presentation is top notch. Let's give this one a proper try and see if this is a classic.

This was yet another Amiga game which I had not played before we played it in the Super League competition. After quite a few practice tries, I was ready to go for a long run, so I started the recorder and this was the result. I always lost a few lives by going North-West from the start, so I avoided this area during my play, and luckily it isn't needed to unlock the final levels. Some of these castles were new to me, especially the Fire castle, and I was struggling to find the hidden blocks. I'd seen Cog castle before, as on one of my previous plays, I'd gotten stuck there, so that's how I knew about the No Way Backs. The final levels were also a mystery, and if I'd have known how to do them, it would have been possible to beat the whole game. Sadly, after this try, I could not bring myself to go the extra mile and to play it all over again, as I might have recorded and therefore spoiled the ending for those who do want to play it. You might notice I reveal a switch with a hint that there is a hidden trampoline at the end of the level, which I knew about, but forgot during my play through.

There are a couple of mistakes in the narration. For one thing, I say at the end of the first Outdoor section at it is level 2, just as outdoor level 2 appears on the screen. I also say that the first puzzle is the only one in the game, and then later we see a second one. Yet again, youtube cut off the end of my video, which is very annoying.

The maps in the game came from Hall of Light, and I added this during the black screens on some of the early levels, to show some of the bonus areas.

Danscore:
Woody's World is another colourful, all singing and dancing game from Acid Software; the New Zealand equivalent of Phase 5 or Team 17. They pushed the hardware enough to look like console quality, and backed it up with great music, and user-friendly playability. Normally this type of game would be a classic, as an Amiga Exclusive title; but not many people have heard of it compared to Zool or even Harlequin. The first level starts out pretty cold, with no story or captions to introduce the game, and it can quickly get boring - with samey colours on the first three levels. With something like Fire and Ice, Brian the Lion or Lionheart, the levels all stand out as different, while in this game it's easy to get lost. After the first castle things improve with Checker Castle, which is great fun to explore. Fishy Castle is also quite good. The fire castle uses strange colours, and Cog castle is perhaps the most boring. I enjoyed the Outdoor and Boat sections, and also the Caves, but the Cloud levels should be avoided! Control is usually very good, except on the very edge of platforms he might no jump. Not many pixel perfect jumps and only a few leaps of faith. Overall, I'd give this 7.5 out of 10, as it's easy to compare this to other games, and find that this is not quite as good in general.
