This video demonstrates my basic workflow of creating SVG transit diagram in Notepad++, an advanced text editor which is free and straightforward. The goal is to create true SVG file which is ready to be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons.

The reason of not using Inkscape or Adobe Illustrator is that the SVG files they create have wide array of issues. The worst offender has to be Ai's removal of text alignment properties of center and right and replacement with absolute position under the default text anchor value (start) in which text is doomed to be misaligned once uploaded to Wikimedia. This is why most Ai users convert text to outlines before exporting SVG which is localization-hostile and bloats the file size excessively.
