This was a very interesting boss battle; it actually summons other players to your boss area to control the Monk, using their own stats and weapons. This can be both good and bad:
Positive: It actually adds an interesting PVP dynamic to the game where the Old Monk isn't just some AI you're pitted against and can exploit easily, despite the fact that he can still do some serious damage. This changes the pace of the game for a brief moment, as in soul form you still get invaded.
Negative: When a player controls the monk, the monk inherits player stats and gear. This can be good or bad, depending on the player. I find a lot of people tend to overpower themselves with damage reducing shields and high-range, high-damage-output swords (such as the Dragon Bone Smasher) and then they proceed to destroy you in two hits. It can lead to an unfair battle, especially against players who have A- and S- class damage scaling and you haven't been able to get that gear yet.
