FILMMAKER BIO:

Nora Unkel, Brooklyn, New York

- How long have you been making movies?
11 years

- Favorite horror film?
Psycho

- Location where short was filmed? Brooklyn, New York

- Inspiration for the short?
In 2017, there was a huge influx of requests for exorcisms in the US. We wondered... were new demons appearing or were people just paying more attention now?

- Who is a filmmaker you admire?
Guillermo del Toro

- If you could remake any horror movie, which would it be?
Dracula

- Do you have anything new you'd like to promote or do you have anything in development currently?
Our feature film, A NIGHTMARE WAKES, is currently on Shudder, released earlier this year. This same team is also currently in post production for another horror short film, a twist on a zombie film, EAT.

- What is it about WOD that appealed to you when you joined its community?
We love the openness and excitement that the WOD team has for expanding the genre. As we love to experiment and reframe what horror can be, the WOD community is doing the same and that partnership could only be beneficial and exciting.

Danny Takacs. Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

- How long have you been making movies?
On and off since high school. Seriously for about two years.

- Favorite horror film?
Halloween 1978

- Location where short was filmed?
Cincinnati, Ohio

- Inspiration for the short?
I saw the mask in the online store of an FX artist and thought it looked really creepy. I thought of a story that could surround it and went from there!

- Who is a filmmaker you admire?
John Carpenter, Stanley Kubrick, and James Wan.

- Why did you get into making horror movies?
It's the genre that I've always been drawn to. It allows for unlimited creativity.

- If you could remake any horror movie, which would it be?
Prince of Darkness.

- Do you have anything new you'd like to promote or do you have anything in development currently?
I have a Lovecraftian short, Cosmic Nightmares, currently being edited.

- What is it about WOD that appealed to you when you joined its community?
I loved the idea of being a part of a community of like-minded filmmakers and horror fans.

Jesse James Hennessy, Spokane/WA

- How long have you been making movies?
I’ve been making flicks since I was a kid with a VHS camcorder, but I started doing it more
seriously and professionally around 2014.

- Favorite horror film?
Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn. Such a gold standard in horror/comedy.

- Location where short was filmed?
We filmed in Spokane WA at a few of locations. About half the film was shot in a huge empty building that used to be a grocery store, and the other half was filmed in an empty nightclub/bar space. We were pretty lucky to have unlimited access to those locations.

- Inspiration for the short?
The inspiration was really everything about 80’s horror. I wanted to pay homage to a lot of the classic horror flicks of the 80s that I loved renting on VHS and watching over rad summer weekends. I’d say the main inspirations were Night of the Demons and Evil Dead 2.

- Who is a filmmaker you admire?
Sam Raimi. He’s a fantastic director. I love that he can do horror and many other genres of film while retaining his style.

- Why did you get into making horror movies?
Because horror movies are rad!

- If you could remake any horror movie, which would it be?
I’ve always wanted to try my hand at making an insane Friday the 13th movie. I think there are a lot of possibilities to where you could go with that story and franchise. The trick, like all remakes, is striking that balance between old and new ideas.

- Do you have anything new you'd like to promote or do you have anything in development currently?
I’m currently developing a new horror/comedy flick with a plan to shoot late summer early fall this year.

- What is it about WOD that appealed to you when you joined its community?
I love that WOD gives a lot of independent filmmakers a platform to showcase their bloody
work!
