Welp... a run past warp 4 was definitely what I needed to prove myself I am actually capable of doing this, though I certainly did not expect to still WR after what happened in both warp 3 AND 5, I sure am glad I stuck with it and did not just give up :,)

"FAQ":

1.) Why is the game in Korean and why are the loads way quicker than I remember?

- The game is in Korean because, apart from the text, the game is pretty much identical to the NTSC-U Greatest Hits release... except for one tiny little difference. So basically in NTSC-U and PAL you can only skip cutscenes with the Start button, which is very uncomfortable to spam on the older PlayStation controllers (PS1/PS2 and PS3 as well I think?), thankfully, in both NTSC-J and the Korean releases, they changed it to Triangle, which is much better to use than Start. Now there are two Korean releases actually, and one of them is even in English, I just got this one first and couldn't be asked getting the HDD out of my PS2 to replace it, since in terms of being optimal, they are exactly the same... which brings me to the 2nd part of this question: the loads.

- The loads are way faster than you might remember because, instead of a physical CD, I'm playing the game off of an internal hard drive inside of a Fat PS2 console (50k model). It's technically not an "official" way to play the game, but since there's homebrew apps that make it possible, and the only thing it affects is load times, it has been allowed for speedruns.
As for Slim PS2s, a similar effect can be achieved by playing the game through Ethernet SMB share from a PC, which is slightly slower than HDD, but still faster than a CD... though that's a whole different story for another day.


2.) So how come you were able to complete WARP 2 by only actually doing 4 of the 5 levels?

- So, there's an exploitable glitch called crystal duplication (dupe), it involves dying at the same time you destroy the final ship. You need to be high enough in the air so that Crash's death animation matches the same amount of time it'd take for the game to reward you with a crystal. After you respawn, the game keeps whatever crystal you have stored and rewards you with another one upon finishing the level normally. Can be done up to 5 times (which would actually be slower than doing "just" 4 and then finishing the level, but it is a thing) to skip the entire warp room, although it is NOT humanly viable at the moment. 3.) Okay... what the actual f- is going on in WARP 4? Why are you not playing ANY OF THE LEVELS?!

- "Space Dupe" is essentially the same thing as "Ship Dupe" (the one explained above), except we utilize a so called "black hole" which can insta-kill you even after you shouldn't be able to die anymore, meaning with the right setup, it's possible to position yourself in a way that kills you just as you are rewarded with a crystal, instead of having to rely on enemy RNG (as is the case with Ship Dupe). Now at first we only thought it'd only really be worth to go for 2-3 of these, but considering that we have blazing fast (and relatively safe) setups these days, it's WAY faster to just YOLO and go for 4 of them in a row instead of actually playing any of the other Warp 4 levels.


4.) So the plane level back in WARP 1... it's essentially the same thing, right?

- Well, yeah, except "Tornado Dupe" is sort of a mix of both consistent and "RNG" (more like "bs" really), seeing as you are trying to adjust yourself before you lose control (which is a VERY small window of time) in such a way that you hit an obstacle (similar to Space Dupe, except in this case it's an actual physical windmill instead of a random black hole in the middle of nowhere) right as you are about to warp out the level.
