[World Record] UV Fast Speedrun of Zone 300 Map 11 in 1:51
229Yes! I'm happy to not only have beaten the UV Fast record (3m20), but also the UV Max record (2m20), and the 2 minute barrier as well. I feel that getting sub 1m50 should be possible with more grinding, but I never managed to pull it off, not even when practicing with saves.
This was a pleasant map to speedrun, even though the first part can be a bit frustrating: very tight corridors where dodging fast projectiles is extremely difficult. Also, there's very little ammo and virtually no health at the start, only after lowering the pillars with all the imps do you get access to 2 medkits; and that's it. And you need all the health you can get to survive the outside area. I chose to fire the BFG once in this area because it greatly increases the speed at which you kill the imps, and there's lost of cells on the outside arena anyway.
After teleporting outside you're surrounded by an army of monsters. The best bet is to go left, press the secret switch and go for the outside platfrom where there's a megasphere and an invulnerability. If you survive up until that point, the rest of the run should be easy. My route consisted of grabbing all the big cell packs on the top platform and then immediately jumping down and go press the buttons that open the exit. On the way, collect more cells and boxes of rockets, and keep firing the BFG and rockets to clear the horde around me.
