There was a bug where you couldn't remove the tmog appearances due to the fact that the "buff" wasn't there to be removed. The only way to get the buff back was to "un-equip" your profession gear... then re-equip it. Once you get the buff on the top corner right, then right-click it... then the tmog will be gone.
