War Mode is good for some dailie quest or questing for faster leveling up. Some PvP rewards requires you to be in War mode as well.

But if you don't need to xtra rewards or PvP Rewards ( Dragonflight PvP Epic Gear ) m then you don't need to be in War Mode.

War mode has been introduce in BFA expansion in order to help new players leveling up experience without being attacked by the opposite faction anywhere or anytime on any map.

So now it's an option, not a obligation. However, many people still love the "thrill" of being in constant War Mode. You also do get bonus exp and gold from quest as benefits.
