Developed by BugBear Entertainment and published by THQ Nordic in 2018 for PC, 2019 for the Xbox One & PS4 (PlayStation 4), 2021 for the Xbox Series X/S, PS5 (PlayStation 5), and Google Stadia, and 2022 for Android, iOS, and the Nintendo Switch, Wreckfest is exactly what I described above. This game's most notable feature is the use of soft-body damage modeling, which enables location-based damage that affects the driving dynamics of vehicles in a realistic fashion.
When development for Wreckfest began in 2012, the working title was "Next Car Game" and also known as "Next Car Game: Wreckfest". It was first announced by Bugbear Entertainment on the Next Car Game blog in August 2013 from the nextcargame.com website (now defunct). Early access when it was "Next Car Game" was made available on Steam in 2014.
BugBear Entertainment is the same developer that worked on games like FlatOut, FlatOut 2, FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage on the Xbox 360 & PC, SEGA Rally Revo on the PSP (PlayStation Portable), and Ridge Racer Unbounded on the.
The game has a Career mode, Online Multiplayer, the ability to purchase cars along with upgrades and customization, and a Custom Event mode which is pretty much allows the player to play and adjust events to however they want with the races (there are numerous race types), demo derbies, number of AI vehicles, type of AI vehicles, etc..
