Turns out even these helicopters have a pretty good glide ratio. If you need to, you can dive a bit to gain some airspeed to get the rotor to spin faster, the glide ratio is very similar at 90 knots vs 170 knots suprisingly. However at 170 knots you descend way quicker, but you also have the better capability to flare out the landing. Unfortunately I overshot the landing point in this clip, it's not that easy to do if you've never done autorotation in a simulator before but it's not that difficult to learn either. I don't have CBT access and I've never tried autorotation in DCS or anything like that so WT is a first for me.

I've also noticed I've been doing autorotation wrongly until today, I thought you had to dive to get some forward airspeed but as it turns out you can just keep the helicopter chill and the rotors will speed up on their own. Accelerating forward during an autorotation is rather sluggish though.
