Wurst Gaming Dev Log 2: Game Actions and Interactions
In this Wurst Gaming dev log, we’re diving deep into the Game Action scripts powering our 8-bit RPG engine in Space Engineers! Our developer is working hard (and struggling with the text-to-speech demands) to show off the GameAction system, which controls everything from NPC interactions to item pickups, and even for loops for repetitive tasks. We’ll break down how the dialog UI works, displaying text one letter at a time and letting players scroll through conversations in true retro-RPG style.
Alongside our AI host, we explore how if statements add flexibility, making it possible to interact with NPCs and objects differently based on player progress. We’ll also peek at the GameData block that keeps all the game’s data organized and accessible. If you’re a fan of RPGs or just curious about game dev in Space Engineers, stick around and keep it wurst!
