Fun fact: I was a middle school teacher. Most of my students know Genshin Impact. Only a few know Breath of the Wild.
To be fair to Genshin, it does evolve in a lot of ways from being just an anime Breath of the Wild since release, but the similarities in the gameplay mechanics are still there. And also, to be fair to Genshin, it is the game that defined free-to-play open-world gacha. So, while there are many gacha games that take inspiration from Genshin, to say that Genshin is the originator of them is definitely misleading.
