Featured today is the X-4 Enforcer, a short takeoff vertical landing (STOVL) high performance assault transport intended to deploy special forces troops over intercontinental ranges to combat the extraterrestrial threat. And yes, you guessed correctly! It's inspired by none other than the Skyranger featured in the X-COM remakes.
This craft is a collaborative build between LethalShade of the KSP forums, who supplied the original idea for the Skyranger replica plus a basic hull form. I took over the project for systems redesign and aerodynamic development, resulting in the X-4 Enforcer which has ludicrous speed and acceleration - topping out at Mach 3.5 above 40,000 ft!
The X-4 is also capable of a Mach 2.0 emergency dash at low atltudes, something I believe even UFOs have trouble with!
