X-Com: Terror from the Deep (MS-DOS) Intro und Failplay
4Nachfolger von UFO Enemy Unknown, 1995 von Microprose entwickelt und vertrieben. In X-Com Terror from the Deep kommandiert ihr 70 Jahre nach den Ereignissen wieder die namensgebene Organisation, welche reaktiviert wurde, weil es weltweit zu Angriffen auf Schiffen und Küstenstädte kam, die von unbekannten Flug U-Booten (ja, die heißen wirklich so :) ) ausgeführt wurde. Dieses mal kämpfen die Soldaten der X-Com hauptsächlich in Taucheranzügen auf den Meeresgrund und nur vereinzelt zu Lande. Die Stimmung ist weitaus bedrohlicher als im Vorgänger und die geniale Einbindung von lovecraftschen Motiven ( uralte Alienstädte unter Wasser, Fischmenschen, das Aussehen der Aliens wie monströse Meeresbewohner) sowie die tolle Musik machen X-Com für mich zum besten Teil der Serie.
...Naja, der zweite Einsatz der Aquanauten war wohl ziemlich daneben, noch so ein paar Einsätze und die Menschheit kann den Aliens freiwilig ihre Welt überlassen :)
Successor of UFO Enemy Unknown, developed and distributed in 1995 by Microprose. In X-Com Terror from the Deep you command the X-Com organization 70 years after the events of the first part which was reactivated because of the worldwide attacks on ships and coastal towns of unknown flying submarines (yes, thats their name :) ) was carried out. This time the soldiers of the X-Com mainly fight in diving suits on the seabed and only sporadically on land. The mood is far more menacing than the predecessor and the ingenious integration of Lovecraftian motifs (ancient alien cities submerged, Fishman, the appearance of aliens as monstrous sea creatures) and great music make X-Com for me the best part of the series.
...well, the second mission of the aquanauts was really devastating, more missions like this and the humanity can freely give the world to the aliens :)
