X-Men vs. Street Fighter [Saturn] - Akuma & SFA Chun-Li
This is a playthrough using Akuma and SFA Chun-Li in the Saturn version of X-Men vs. Street Fighter. Read on below for more information...
Akuma and SFA Chun-Li are both hidden playable characters.
===== HOW TO SELECT AKUMA =====
On the character select screen, highlight any of the characters on the top row, and then press Up. Akuma's icon will appear and he will be highlighted.
===== HOW TO SELECT SFA CHUN-LI =====
On the character select screen, highlight Chun-Li, hold [Start] and press any attack button to select SFA Chun-Li.
===== AKUMA IN XMVSF =====
Akuma is such a fun character to use in XMvSF. He's almost like a combination of Ryu and Ken, with two of his hyper combos being a Super Dragon Punch and a Super Fireball Beam (although the latter is delayed at start-up and the beam itself being shorter-lasting than Ryu's one). His Super Dragon Punch (Messatsu Gou Shoryu) is his best move as it can be cancelled into from virtually all of his standing/ground Normals.
===== OTHER INFORMATION / TRIVIA =====
---- As this is a Japanese-region-only game, Akuma is of course named as Gouki.
---- The Saturn port of the game offers two extra colour palettes for all of the playable characters, as a result of the unlockable extra feature of being able to have identical characters in a team. For example if Player 1 and Player 2 selects Ryu for both of their characters, four colour palettes are needed to distinguish between the four Ryus.
===== ABOUT SFA CHUN-LI =====
This is basically Chun-Li in her Street Fighter Zero/Alpha costume. Her character select portrait, victory portrait, lifebar icon and ending appearance has also been redrawn to reflect this. Gameplay-wise, her moveset is exactly the same as regular Chun-Li's.
===== ABOUT SATURN XMVSF =====
Due to the Sega Saturn's original hardware being too weak (VRAM) to handle the big CPS-II board games, a 4MB RAM cartridge was produced to extend the Saturn's RAM for XMvSF... and the result was amazing, as the port is pretty much Arcade-perfect - something that no other console in that generation was capable of. It was the first time that a CPS-II game port could be played on a console with everything intact from the Arcade original (and more features if you consider the Versus mode and extra options).
