This is a playthrough using G.Axe in the Saturn version of Golden Axe: The Duel. Read on below for more information...

Golden Axe is the final boss of the game. He is a non-selectable character.

===== THE GAME'S STORY =====

The story for this game's events is set 80 years after the events of Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder (a scrolling beat-em-up).

After the people of the land had forgotten the tragic events and had rebuilt their lives, another terror begins again. Out of the mists of time, the legendary weapon Golden Axe was rediscovered and it's power appears to have grown over the years. This power is said to be able to grant it's owner anything his or her heart desires.

Thus numerous fighters across the land, young and old and good and evil, are attempting to obtain this artifact.

===== ABOUT G.AXE =====

He is basically a physical manifestation of the powers within the weapon, Golden Axe. It represents itself as a (very well designed and drawn) large knight in gold armour with a cape. It is believed to be the spirit of a sacred god dwelling inside the artifact.

===== OTHER INFORMATION / TRIVIA =====

---- He does not have a super move.

---- He cannot crouch.

---- He does not have any jumping Slashes/Punches.

---- On the Versus screen, the character seems to be coded in a way where it is linked to the crumbling/falling debris animation scene (normally after a regular character defeats Death Adder), as this scene happens after he is selected on the character select screen (as it heads to the VS screen). The "falling debris" graphics are glitched though.

---- He does not have a winning screen portrait image and quotes.

---- His design may be somewhat based on Dark Guld, the final boss in Golden Axe 2.

---- His armour looks very similar to the headless knight (called Death Armors) bosses in Golden Axe 2.

---- On the character select screen, when he is highlighted, it says "Not Available" in front of his sprites. You also cannot confirm/select him, and instead need to wait for the timer to count down. The text is well-designed, which means that it is possible that Sega originally planned for him to be playable only in Versus mode. Or it could be an indication to the developers to not make him a playable character or have him remain unplayable for the final game perhaps.

---- If you manage to complete single-player mode with him, the game crashes as he has no ending programmed in.

---- The character Jamm does not have her own stage background, instead she uses Doc's stage background, seemingly in mirror matches. She does however have her own BGM theme for this mirror match though.

---- In the Saturn version of the game, there are Green Elves (that when hit), can drop food which can replenish life if picked up. This feature can be enabled in the Options screen. The Green Elves are not in the Arcade version of the game.

---- In the Japanese version of the Arcade game, at the beginning of a match before the fight starts, there is text that displays the stage's name under "Duel 1".

---- In the Saturn version of the game, the character Doc has an extra special move called the Dashing Strike. This move is not in the Arcade version.
