Xak II (ENG) Rising of the Redmoon (MSX) – [Part 01] - - The Legacy of a born Hero
Yes, it’s happening. The XAK series continues. I am going to be uploading the only English fan translated version that exists for this game. I believe at the time of this writing; this may be the only walkthrough that I can hopefully complete which will be available on the youtube platform. These games are very challenging and with restrictive and limited MSX hardware, it doesn’t make things very easy. I do use a lot of save states to ensure progression. I also cut certain segments out of my videos. The purpose for this upload is to provide a guide for players that want to follow so they can complete the game with as little frustration as possible. It is not meant to be a no-kill run. Thankfully the 3rd game is on the PC engine so that one will be much easier to handle, and I won’t have to resort to using a keyboard + controller.
Created by developer Micro cabin in 1990, Xak 2: Rising of the Redmoon is a rpg like its predecessor in tone but many of its elements are enhanced. Each Xak entry is connected to one another, culminating in the climax of Xak III. The story begins with Latok Kart who sets out on an unknown journey to the town of Banuwa after witnessing rumors of his missing father. This installment in the series elevates its enhanced action gameplay. No longer is the bump mechanic of the first game the standard for offensive attacks. Now you have a sword that you can swing like typical action rpgs and you can also shoot force shots and with the added inclusion of jumping, it creates a deeper sense of depth to the field.
Enjoy a rare but often overlooked Gem of a series. This is Xak II: Rising of the Redmoon for the first time in english.
