XB1 Star Wars Battlefront 2 G65, 2P local splitscreen Arcade on Palace Hangar, ARC Trooper!
ElGato rec. No battle chatter/commentary. Went in as an ARC Trooper without knowing how lethal the Shock Trap/Desperation combo can be! Vid timeline:
(0:00) Intro.
(1:20) Match begins.
We play as:
First player: Separatist BX Commando Droid.
Blaster: E-5.
Abilities: Smoke Screen, Thermal Vision, Vibrosword.
Boost Cards: Desperation, Interrogation, Stalker.
Passive Ability: N/A.
Second player: Galactic Republic ARC Trooper.
Blaster: Dual D-17.
Abilities: Shock Trap, Helmet Scanner, Power Blast.
Boost Cards: Desperation, Interrogation, Stalker.
Passive Ability: N/A.
All this time, I thought the Shock Trap was more of a non-lethal device meant to temporarily incapacitate enemies for a short period of time. The way it is described in the game lead me to believe this.
Thus in the past, I came in with the mentality of using it defensively. And against only my opposing human player (BX Commando Droid) as a means to get him of my back.
What happened here is that I came in with the intension of finding out how good the Desperation Start Card is for the ARC Trooper. After seeing how it benefited the Sith Trooper and Caphex Spy (also Infiltrator Reinforcement units) in our earlier plays, I wanted to see how it bolstered the clone trooper's Helmet Scan and Shock Trap.
It was only when I began to use the Shock Trap against enemy bots, when I realized how lethal that ability can be. Not only it this hard, but it features a pretty large blast radius, making it effective against packs of enemies. And of course, with the Desperation Start Card, I can use it more often.
Basically, the way that particular Star Card works is that all one's abilities receive a recharge boost everytime the character takes damage.
It does not appear to be as effective against other Reinforcement Units however.
But, now that I know about the Shock Trap's power, I can begin to develop offensive strategies with it, preferely, along with the Helmet Scan.
I suspect is also possible that the Shock Trap was buffed in an update. With the number of Reinforcement and Hero units steadily increasing, the like hood of me missing something is bound to become more prevalent.
