The good news is that the Defensive Stance automatically cools down the Rotatory Cannon and affects nearby allies. The bad news is that it's of fairly short duration.
Anti-Armor Mode however, was made to take out vehicles and shields in mind. Not much use in Arcade, when one can use the Cannon's normal fire mode instead, which has a killer damage output against troops anyway.
But I was able to use Charge as a means to put some distance from tight situations.
