XB1 Star Wars Battlefront G14, 2P local splitscreen Skirmish Co-op, Walker Assault practice 1-2.
Hello YouTube! SSGL here with our first of two takes at defending the uplinks on Walker Assault (Outpost Beta on Hoth, Normal difficulty). Vid timeline:
(0:00) Intro.

(6:59) 2nd links.
(11:52) 3rd links.
It's one of the new Skirmish modes that can be played locally in 2-player splitscreen, the other one being Fighter Squadron.
Now, we never played said mode before online. So we weren't quite well versed with it's gameplay mechanics. In fact, we were breaking the ice here.
Below are the things that we learned as we rolled:
1: I came in thinking that if we don't secure and hold on to both Rebel uplink stations, no Y-Ws will ever show up. Then thought that as long as we hold on to at least one, we would be rewarded with our bombing run. Didn't turn out to work like that exactly. Turns out the uplink stations are like Y-Wing Bomber "generators". Once captured, each station goes on cycle, and a Y-W is added to the "inbound bombing squadron" each time the blue outline fills up. One would then hear the announcer saying something like 'Y-W locked on target' every time that happens. So obviously, holding on to both uplinks increases the chances of success. Once I understood these mechanics, everything else began to fall into place.
2: Stacked Y-Ws are not lost if the Imperials take over the links. They just prevent more from being added. However, the blue outline progress is lost and starts over when recaptured. This could be a significant setback if a link is lost when it was on the brink of adding a bomber.
3: The line with 3 circles located on top of the screen between the accumulated Y-W and AT-AT icons represents the time one has to assemble each of the 3 bombing raids. As the Walkers approach, the line fills up. The line reaching the first circle represents the Walkers reaching the first of the 3 sets of two uplink stations and so on.
4: Once the Walkers reach each set of uplink stations, a bombing raid is triggered. Then, the number of Y-Ws one managed to secure comes into battle one after the other, with each bomber dropping one bomb at each target.
5: The time window when one can actually harm the Walkers occurs during each of the 3 bombing raids. One can see this electrical effect on the AT-ATs during those times: a visual cue in case one missed when the announcer states the Y-Ws have arrived I think. The more Y-Ws one has accumulated, the longer the time window. Help the bombers and hit those AT-ATs with everything available!
