Last video in the series, a big one, and an amazing mission. The XCOM base is invaded, and some base personnel join our troops in the defense. Because they're not proper XCOM soldiers you're attached to, it's natural to use them a bit like cannon fodder to keep your best people safe. But so many times here, the stupid risks I put them through paid off spectacularly, and Ngele and Majid in particular ended up being the heroes of the match.

Wouldn't it be great if this was how you selected who was worthy to join your XCOM force in the first place?

By this point recording, compressing and uploading all my XCOM missions was starting to take more time than I could spare - I underestimated how many goddamn missions you play in this game - so this is the last video in this series.

Pippa 'Vampire' Tshabalala went on to become our star sniper, our first Colonel, and our most deadly soldier overall, until she was killed by a Sectopod in overwatch on the final mission.

Kate 'Garotte' Distler levelled up alongside her, becoming her equal by the end, and survived the final mission to deal a critical headshot to the final enemy that helped us take it down.

Owen 'Ace' Hill became our first genetically modified troop, adopting Memetic Skin and super legs to become an ultra-fast invisible scout, spotting enemies for our team of snipers and often revealing himself to finish them off from a flanking angle. He missed like 3 times in his life.

Ricky 'Werewolf' Haggett became our best Assault Troop, our first Psychic, and sacrificed himself on the final mission to save humanity. His boldest moment was coming out of camouflage to cast a psionic rift on three Ethereals, a critical part of our final attack.

Rachel 'Hulk' Weber and Kim 'Number Six' Richards took it in turns to be the team mech, as we started to need more human soldiers in the squad. Eventually Rachel retired when Kim's superior aim became too useful, living out the rest of her life crushing things with her robot arms for fun.

Kim was critically wounded a total of three times, and saved every time. By the final mission her Will was puny - her many brushes with death making her prone to panic - but she kept her cool all the way to the final enemy, and a perfect alien grenade from her back-mounted launcher was what killed it and won the mission.

Thanks for watching!
