Anyway, impossible difficulty. I'm doing semi-ironman and the Slingshot missions. I save at the start of each battle and only restart if I lose all my troopers. I lost everyone on the first abduction mission, so there was a restart there. All other deaths, mistakes, stupid moves will be lovingly included.
First half of the first month, and the first three missions. Starting with the opening mission, I luck out on the map - it's one I've played before and actually remember.
The next one sucks hard. Abduction missions always put me on the back foot, because I'm thinking about the other countries, and if I'll manage to recover them. On impossible, the countries you don't help get 3 panic, so they're basically set to leave. Anyway, there's an open plaza leading to a messy close combat building, with little in the way of hard cover to protect me. I try to sneak around, it does not go as sneakily as I'd hope.
Then it's a UFO mission, which I always enjoy. Open ground, and you can create some awesome ambushes for the aliens. And the first UFO is only 4 sectoids (2x2) and an outsider, so its basically shooting fish in a barrel. No big groups.
On the base management side, I screw up the research, sell all my resources, but manage to set up satellites and the uplinks in time for the council at the end of the month. Whether I'll live that long is another matter entirely.
I'd really welcome tips, feedback and any thoughts. If this is too fast (and I realise it might be) let me know. I'll slow the next ones down.
